Community Workshops

Our Board is comprised of a majority of individuals who have personal experience as refugee-immigrants in Canada, and direct experience with the challenges and obstacles in resettlement in a new country. Their experiences are all unique and extremely informative of both the refugee and immigration system, and the lived reality of leaving behind one’s country of birth, one’s mother tongue, one’s security, job, status, and extended family. Their experiences alone are poignant and a benefit to all who hear them. But equally important is their lived experiences of becoming residents of this multicultural country of Canada, and the obstacles they have encountered in becoming participating and contributing members when faced with language challenges, education challenges, family reunification concerns, childcare challenges, housing costs, limited access to employment to gain invaluable and requisite Canadian experience, among countless other barriers.
We see the value in growing our communities from the ground up: in other words, building our communities for and with the individuals and families who are the community. We believe that a flourishing Canada begins with flourishing families building flourishing communities.
We would like to come to your community to facilitate dialogue about the refugee-immigration experience, to discuss the Canadian multicultural community, and to invite conversation about how we are each an integral part of Canada’s future. We have workshops designed for school-age children and participatory events for adults. To book an education workshop, please send your email request to contact@flourishingfoundation.org
