Our Stories

These are the stories of the women we are honoured to work with.

“Life in a refugee camp is described as suspended time. It is akin to jail time, waiting for a sentence to end. Lives are not built in camps; all focus is on an unknown future in an unknown country, beginning on an unknown date. As a group, we could deeply relate to the sense of timelessness and vulnerability that defines life as a precariat.”

“It is nice to be part of a new society other than the community in which I lived my childhood. We need this encouragement because my family does not exist with me. Flourishing is difficult to do, but we have the goal of living and learning.

Canada is a beautiful country for progress, prosperity, and freedom of speech; it does not exist in my country. I hope to live in peace and family and to do something simple to help others after mastering the language. I hold you and my other friends close in my heart. I want to work with people with kindness.”
